How to Join WA Labor Membership?

** WA Labor encourages you to join and make your voice heard. As a Labor member, you can shape decisions affecting our community, influence the policy of Labor governments and discuss ideas with other members.

** Apply online at walabor.org.au, scan and email this form to membership[AT]walabor.org.au or mail this form to WA Labor, PO Box 8117, Perth BC 6849. For membership enquiries email membership[AT]walabor.org.au or phone (08) 9328 7222

Membership Fees :
All members must pay:
1. An annual fee of $25 paid upon application and then annually before April 30 the following year and;
2. Monthly payments according to your income.

Nominated Branches :
Party Members all belong to a Branch. There are two types of Branches:
** Local Branches are organised around a geographic area.
** Direct Branches are organised around an issue or a broader group in the community.
Joining a Branch is recommended but not compulsory.

Important Information :
** All members under the age of 26 are automatically members of WA Young Labor.
** All women members are automatically members of the Labor Women’s Organisation.

** Payments must be made using a personal credit or debit card in your name or the name of a family member who lives at your address.
** Payment that does not meet these criteria will be refunded.

** To pay for your membership by other means (direct debit, cheque) or if you prefer to pay your monthly contributions (if required) annually, you will need to download and complete a 2024 Membership Application and return to WA Labor by email to membership[AT]walabor.org.au or by post.

Important For Direct Debit Payments:
** Our bank has asked that we include the following statement. Please ensure that you have read the following before sending in the Direct Debit Request. Please retain a copy of this section for your records.
** We may vary this agreement at any time by giving you at least 14 days notice. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have sufficient funds in the nominated account when payments are to be drawn.

** If you do not have sufficient funds, then: The payment will be regarded as not having been made; An administration fee will be charged to your account; If the nominated account is conducted with the Commonwealth Bank then we may, on a day subsequent to the payment due date, debit funds from your account either in full or partial payment of any amount overdue.

** You should be aware that: Direct Debiting through Bulk Electronic Clearing System is not available on all accounts; Account details should be checked against a recent statement from your financial institution.
** If you are in any doubt, you should check with your ledger financial institution before completing the Direct Debit Request; and It is your responsibility to advise us if your nominated account is altered, transferred or closed.
** If you believe there has been an error in debiting your account you should contact us on (08) 9328 7222 from 9am to 5pm Mon-Fri.
** Your records and account details will be kept private and confidential and will only be disclosed at your request or at the request of the financial institution in connection with a claim made to an alleged incorrect or wrongful debit, or otherwise as required by law.
** For all matters relating to the Direct Debit arrangement on your account, including requests for deferment of debits, alteration of debit arrangements or stopping or cancelling your Direct Debit Request, please call us on (08) 9328 7222 from 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday.

Renew Your WA Labor Membership

To renew your WA Labor Membership please fill out the form below.
** Payments must be made using a personal credit or debit card in your name or the name of a family member who lives at your address.
** Payment that does not meet these criteria will be refunded.
** To pay for your membership by other means (direct debit, cheque) or if you prefer to pay your monthly contributions (if required) annually, you will need to complete a 2024 Membership Renewal Form and return to WA Labor Membership by email to membership[AT]walabor.com.au or by post.
** Any member who does not renew their membership before the deadline of 5pm 30 April 2024 will be considered lapsed until they have renewed.
** Please contact WA Labor Party Office if you do not know your membership number.

WA Labor Rules

i. The WA Labor Rules 2023 (passed at State Conference in November 2023), govern the way our Party and Party Members operate.

ii. The new rules contain some big changes from previous version, which include:
** Charter of member rights and responsibilities
** New policy development process (WA Policy Forum)
** Digital meeting provisions
** Changes to minimum branch numbers
** Changes to branch meeting requirements
** New Federal Electorate Council structure (replacing previous FECC structure)
** Party preselection changes – Legislative Council

iii. We’ve produced a number of Fact Sheets to help Party Units understand their obligations under the WA Labor Rules 2023.
