Presently any British citizen who was last on a UK electoral roll less than 15 years ago can register to vote in UK Parliamentary Elections. The Conservative Party manifesto commitment Votes for Life has been enacted so in the future all British citizens living overseas will be able to vote, regardless of how long they have resided overseas. How do I register to vote?
If you’re resident in the UK or have lived overseas for 15 years or less then you can register to vote online. You’ll need your last UK address to register. Online registration takes around 5 minutes. Your former local authority will then contact you to finalise your registration. You will then renew your registration annually. Registration is now an individual rather than household responsibility.

How can I vote?

Once registered, you are able to vote by post, by proxy, or by returning to the UK on election day. Recent changes now mean that you should receive your postal vote with good time to vote from overseas.
