Eligibility Criteria Of Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal

Eligibility to become a member of the Party Membership System :
** Fully accept the structure, principles and rules of the party. Must be a Sri Lankan citizen above 18 years of age who is not a member of any other party and who is ready to work under any part of the party and fulfill the duties assigned by the party fully and wholeheartedly.

** Should have been active as a member of the party for about one year. Or be ready to run.

** A candidate should have been nominated by two members of the party as eligible to become a member of the party.

** He/she should be a person who acknowledges the eligibility status of being entitled to all other rights, duties and responsibilities except the right to elect or the right to be elected during the period of functioning as a candidate member.

** There are 3 important organizations in the structure of the party. It is seen that the primary structure is the village structure above which is the Executive Committee and above that the Chairman Working Committee has the most important powers. In this, the Chairman Working Committee and Executive Committee are the most important bodies.

** The Chairman Working Committee and members of the Executive Committee shall be elected through the National Conference of the Party.

** The tasks of the party’s executive committee and the chairman’s task force are to make the party’s principled decisions, to make appointments for the party’s top-level members, and to take bold decisions to protect the party leader and the party’s principles when the party faces impossible conditions.

** To put it another way, instead of deciding what kind of alliances and changes in party policies during the election period, when the party is facing a very critical situation, the leadership committee and the executive committee of this party carry out very important activities such as nominating people for important positions such as the next president and secretary, and giving temporary appointments.

** The difference between the Chairman Working Committee and the Executive Committee is that the members of the Chairman Working Committee are also members of the Executive Committee but not all the members of the Executive Committee are members of the Chairman Working Committee.

** That means all members of the Chairman Working Committee will serve as members of the Executive Committee. At the same time not all executive committee members become members of the chairperson’s task force.

** In addition, the Board of Directors has the power to overturn a decision taken by the Board. But no body of the party has the authority to change a decision taken by the Chairman Working Committee.

** As the backbone of that type of party, the party leader’s task force is seen as an authoritative body.
