How To Vote?
There are many ways to vote in a provincial election in B.C.
Vote At Advance Voting:
There are six days of advance voting in provincial elections in B.C. Advance voting places are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (local time).
Voters should note that not all advance voting places are open every day of the advance voting period. After an election is called, Elections BC publishes advance voting places and the dates they are open in community newspapers, on its website, and on Where to Vote cards sent to voters.
All voters can vote at any advance voting place, and all advance voting places are wheelchair accessible. Under the Election Act, advance voting is available over six consecutive days starting eight days before General Voting Day. If General Voting Day is a Monday, the advance voting period starts nine days before General Voting Day.
If one or more advance voting days is a holiday the advance voting period is set by the Chief Electoral Officer, and must consist of six days over a period starting 12 days before General Voting Day and ending two days before General Voting Day.
Vote On General Voting Day:
General Voting Day is the 28th day after the election is called. Most voters vote on General Voting Day. To vote on General Voting Day, visit any voting place between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Pacific time.
Vote At Any District Electoral Office:
Voting is available at any district electoral office from when an election is called to 4 p.m. on General Voting Day.
Vote By Mail:
Voters can ask for a vote by mail package from before an election is called until 4 p.m. on General Voting Day. The package will be mailed to you or you can pick it up at a district electoral office.
The completed package must be returned to the district electoral office by 8 p.m. on General Voting Day.
Where Do I Vote?
During an election, voting places will be listed on this website, on Where to Vote cards sent to registered voters, and published in community newspapers throughout B.C. Voters can also call Elections BC during an election to find out where to vote.
