North Sydney By-Election :
When? :
By-election day, Saturday 5 December 2015
Polling places open at 8am and close at 6pm sharp.
The by-election is only for voters enrolled in the electoral Division of North Sydney in New South Wales.

Where can I vote? :
Voting for the North Sydney by-election is not yet open. You can vote at any polling place in the electoral Division of North Sydney on by-election day. Polling places will not be available outside North Sydney on by-election day.
I can’t make it on by-election day :
Voting is compulsory. If you do not vote and do not have a valid reason for failing to vote, you will be fined. If you can’t make it to a polling place on by-election day, you could be eligible to vote early.
Who do I vote for? :
Candidate nominations are open now – candidates for the by-election will be announced at midday on Friday 13 November 2015
Who you choose to vote for is your decision :
Outside the polling place, candidate representatives may give you how-to-vote cards, suggesting you vote in a particular way. You do not have to follow how-to-vote cards.
Do I need to vote in the by-election? :
If you are an Australian citizen aged 18 years or older and live in the electoral Division of North Sydney, it is compulsory to enrol and vote in the by-election.
Practise voting – Senate :
On the white ballot paper you have a choice of two ways to vote:
** Either above the line
** Put a ‘1’ in the box above the line for the party or group of your choice.
** By doing this, you are using the numbering that group has made below the line on its group voting ticket.
** Or below the line
** Number every box in the order of your choice below the line.
** If you choose to vote below the line you need to number every box in the order of your choice
