About Elections :
The secretary of state serves as Nebraska’s chief election officer. Working with election officials in the state’s 93 counties, the Elections Division oversees election law, the conduct of elections in the state, election tabulation equipment and the state voter registration system. The division accepts candidate filings and tabulates results for statewide, legislative, judicial retention and certain district elections.

General election:
Incumbents: December 1, 2015 through July 15, 2016
Non-incumbents: December 1, 2015 through August 1, 2016.
Primary Election:
Incumbents: December 1, 2015 through February 16, 2016
Non-Incumbents: December 1, 2015 through March 1, 2016
Primary election requirements for US Congress :
** Must fill out a partisan candidate filing form.
** Filing fee is $1,740.
** No Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission C-1 form is required.
** Register with the Federal Election Commission.
Primary election requirements for the following partisan offices:
constitutional officers and Public Service Commission
** Must fill out a partisan candidate filing form.
** Must fill out the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission C-1 form. We need both forms to complete the filing.

** Auditor, $850
** Treasurer, $850
** Attorney General, $950

Legislature, Board of Regents, State Board of Education and public power districts grossing over $40 million

** Must fill out the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission C-1 form. We need both forms to complete the filing.

** Legislature, $120
** Board of Regents, $25
** State Board of Education, $25
** Public power districts grossing over $40 million (NPPD, OPPD, Southern, Loup and Norris), $25

community colleges, natural resources districts and learning communities
